Who We Are
The Coalition strives to create a safe and supportive environment for the Jewish community in San Diego, where antisemitism is countered through coordinated efforts and alliances with non-Jewish partners.
The Coalition will organize, coordinate, and enhance the efforts of Jewish organizations, supportive community leaders, and non-Jewish allies in San Diego in both helping to prevent and combat antisemitism.
Antisemitism is a certain perception of Jews, which may be expressed as hatred toward Jews. Rhetorical and physical manifestations of antisemitism are directed toward Jewish or non-Jewish individuals and/or their property, toward Jewish community institutions and religious facilities. For examples of antisemitic manifestations and when anti-Israel rhetoric may be considered antisemitic, please refer to the definitions and examples provided by the U.S. State Department, the European Union, IHRA and others.
The Coalition is an independent community initiative housed at Jewish Federation of San Diego as a fiscal agent. The Coalition is governed by an advisory board comprised of respected community leaders. Day-to-day management/supervision is overseen by the lead professionals of Federation, the Lawrence Family JCC, and Leichtag Foundation/Impact Cubed. The Coalition works in close consultation and coordination with the lead antisemitism-focused organizations in San Diego as convened by Federation's Antisemitism Roundtable.
Advisory Board Members play a pivotal role in guiding the Coalition’s strategy and ensuring the effectiveness of its initiatives. Board members will work closely with professional community leaders, established organizations and independent initiatives to guide the Coalition’s activities, provide governance, and advocate for the Coalition’s mission within the broader community.
